**About The Role** We are seeking a dedicated Generative AI Developer (m/f/d) to join our interdisciplinary team of HPC experts within the "Computing" working group. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI technology, focusing on the development and integration of generative AI solutions tailored for sensitive and critical infrastructure. The position is based within the subproject "KISSKI-EvoKS" of our AI Service Center for Sensitive and Critical Infrastructure (KISSKI). You will collaborate closely with customers from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, primarily from sectors with stringent data protection requirements, to develop prototypes and workflows that lead to proof-of-concept (PoC) and blueprint implementations. The role involves designing innovative AI solutions, supporting the deployment of AI services, and contributing to the creation of technical documentation, whitepapers, and presentations for workshops and conferences. Additionally, you will play a key role in integrating novel AI methods into our existing AI service portfolio and the SAIA Platform (Scalable Artificial Intelligence Accelerator), ensuring our offerings remain cutting-edge and secure. This position provides the chance to engage in meaningful research and practical applications, advancing the intersection of AI, high-performance computing, and data security.
**Qualifications** The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in software engineering and AI technologies. Proven programming skills in high-level languages, especially Python, are essential, along with extensive experience working within Linux environments, including scripting, version control with Git, and containerization. Familiarity with software engineering best practices such as security, testing, and CI/CD pipelines (e. g. , GitLab, pytest) is required. Knowledge of databases like SQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite, as well as web development skills involving HTTP, FastAPI, HTML, and JavaScript, are highly desirable. A solid understanding of generative AI models, including large language models (LLMs), diffusion models, and frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, is necessary. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with fluency in German (C1) and English (C1), are critical for success. Willingness to travel for business is also expected.
**Responsibilities** Your responsibilities will be diverse and tailored to the needs of our projects. They may include designing tailored solutions to address customer use cases by leveraging existing AI infrastructure, supporting companies in developing AI services, and generating detailed blueprints and whitepapers. You will document solutions for internal knowledge sharing and customer handover, ensuring clarity and usability. Representing GWDG at workshops, conferences, and industry events will also be part of your role, promoting our innovative AI solutions. A key aspect involves integrating new AI methods into our AI service portfolio and the SAIA Platform, ensuring seamless deployment and performance. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to advancing our AI capabilities and maintaining our position as a leader in secure AI applications. Providing technical support to customers, troubleshooting issues, and continuously improving our AI offerings will be integral to your role, contributing to the organization's mission of delivering secure, high-quality AI solutions tailored to sensitive data environments.
