Role Purpose

We are seeking a mid-level Full Stack Developer with solid mobile experience to design, build, and maintain web and mobile applications across our healthcare platform. You will report to the Development Lead and operate with a high degree of independence — owning features end-to-end, making sound technical decisions within defined boundaries, and actively leveraging AI-assisted development tools as part of your normal workflow. You will work across a portfolio of applications spanning backend services, web interfaces, and iOS/Android, where development rigour, clear documentation, and good working relationships with our Quality and Regulatory Affairs (QARA) team are part of how we operate.

This is a hands-on development role. You will receive clear technical direction from senior leadership but are expected to manage your own work independently day-to-day — organising tasks, raising blockers early, and delivering work that is complete, tested, and properly documented.

What This Role Is Not – This is not a pure frontend or mobile role — backend and API development are core expectations – This is not a greenfield product role — you will work within established applications and platforms – This is not a senior architecture position — system design input is expected, but you work within an established platform direction – This is not a role where documentation is treated as optional — it is part of delivery in a regulated environment – This is not suitable for candidates who require close supervision to maintain pace and quality

Key Responsibilities

• Full Stack Development (Primary)

• Design and build backend APIs and services using .NET, Node.js, or equivalent frameworks

• Build and maintain web application features across frontend and backend layers

• Design and maintain relational database schemas; write and optimise SQL queries

• Integrate and maintain RESTful APIs and third-party service connections

• Conduct code reviews and maintain coding standards across web and mobile deliverables

• Mobile Application Development (Secondary)

• Build and maintain mobile features for iOS (Swift / SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin), or React Native

• Ensure consistent behaviour, performance, and UI/UX quality across iOS and Android

• Support mobile-to-backend integration and shared data flows with platform engineers

• Assist in debugging cross-layer issues spanning mobile, web, API, and database layers

• Planning, Tooling & Collaboration

• Manage and update your own Jira tickets — break down tasks, maintain accurate status, and flag blockers before they delay delivery

• Maintain Confluence pages for the work you own — architecture decisions, runbooks, integration notes, and change records

• Work directly with the Development Lead on sprint planning, estimation, and scope decisions — provide realistic effort inputs without being prompted

• Documentation & Testing

• Write clear documentation for features you build — covering design decisions, test coverage, and change records

• Produce structured test plans and test cases; execute and record results for your own deliverables

• Collaborate with the QARA team on documentation reviews and ensure your work is traceable

• Maintain documentation as part of your normal workflow, not as a separate activity

• QARA Collaboration

• Work with the Quality and Regulatory Affairs team as a day‑to‑day technical counterpart

• Translate quality and compliance requirements into practical development and testing tasks

• Support QARA in preparing documentation and evidence for audits or regulatory reviews

• Raise gaps or concerns proactively — do not wait for issues to surface during review

• Independent Delivery & Communication

• Manage your own task queue with minimal supervision — flag blockers early, not late

• Communicate clearly on progress, risks, and delivery status

• Escalate scope or compliance concerns before they become problems

Required Experience & Skills

Full Stack Development (Core — Must Have)

• 3–5 years of full stack development experience, with production delivery across backend, web, and/or mobile

• Proficient in at least one backend framework — .NET (C# preferred), Node.js, or equivalent

• Proficient in frontend development — React or Angular preferred; experience with Vite as a build toolchain is a strong advantage

• Solid SQL skills — schema design, query writing, and debugging in relational databases

• Confident designing and building RESTful APIs, including versioning, error handling, and documentation

• Familiar with web application security fundamentals — authentication, authorisation, input validation

• Experience with Git-based workflows and working within a CI/CD deployment pipeline

• Contribute to system design discussions — propose data models, service boundaries, and integration patterns for new features

• Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent) actively and responsibly — to accelerate delivery, not to substitute for understanding

Mobile Development (Supporting — Required at Working Level)

• Hands‑on experience with iOS (Swift / SwiftUI), Android (Kotlin), or React Native development

• Comfortable building and maintaining mobile‑to‑backend integrations and managing client‑side data persistence

• Familiarity with mobile UI/UX principles and platform‑specific design guidelines (iOS HIG, Material Design)

• Experience publishing or maintaining apps on the App Store or Google Play is an advantage

Cloud Infrastructure — AWS (Advantage)

• Familiarity with core AWS services — EC2, RDS, S3, and networking fundamentals

• Experience with deployment and environment configuration in AWS (Elastic Beanstalk, ECS, or similar)

• Basic understanding of cloud security, IAM policies, and least‑privilege access principles

Documentation & Quality Practices

• Comfortable producing structured technical documentation alongside code — not just inline comments

• Able to write and execute formal test plans and record results clearly

• Familiarity with regulated or quality‑managed software environments is an advantage

• Detail‑oriented — produces complete, traceable work without being prompted

System Design Acumen (Required)

• Able to propose and articulate system design decisions — data models, service boundaries, API contracts, and component interactions

• Comfortable producing simple system diagrams or written design notes to support decisions before implementation

• Understands trade‑offs between simplicity, scalability, and maintainability — and can explain choices clearly to the Development Lead

AI‑Assisted Development (Required)

• Actively uses AI coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent) as part of daily development workflow — this is not optional

• Able to review, validate, and take ownership of AI‑generated code — understands its limitations and does not ship output without critical review

• Uses AI tooling for productivity acceleration — code generation, documentation drafts, test scaffolding — not as a substitute for technical judgement

Tooling & Workflow

• Proficient in Jira — manages own tickets, writes clear acceptance criteria, and keeps sprint boards accurate without prompting

• Maintains Confluence documentation as part of delivery — design decisions, runbooks, API notes, and change records are expected outputs, not afterthoughts

• Collaborates with platform and backend engineers on integration tasks

• Works directly with the Development Lead on sprint planning, scope, and technical direction

• Expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy — owns delivery end‑to‑end within the Development Lead’s direction
